The Haunted Muse: The Auburn Writers Conference, 2011
What drives a writer to the page? Is a writer a compulsive being? One driven, haunted, maybe, by characters, memories, myths? These are the questions we'll try to answer at this year's Auburn Writers Conference, October 7 and 8, in Auburn, Alabama.
First, a bit of history. The conference is generously sponsored by Auburn University. It's our second annual conference. Last year's event, The Child on the Page, was a tremendous success. But don't take my word for it. Click through the links to read what one of last year's attendees and one of our guest authors had to say:
Heather's Blog: "I am absolutely smitten."
Emma' Blog: "I remembered what drew me to this art in the first place."
This year, we've nearly doubled the number of authors and workshops. There are writers here for all your tastes--from nonfiction, to YA, to literary and popular fiction, and poetry. There is something for everyone. We've added some new, special events, including readings by attendees and a special night to honor the late Katherine Tucker Windham.
This week and next, I'll be giving you a glimpse of all the good stuff The Haunted Muse will have to offer. There will be GIVEAWAYS, and perhaps, if you're all very, very good, another Barbie reenactment, aka, FASHION DOLLS OF ANGST, a la last year.
In the meantime, visit our facebook page and "like" us. Or tweet about the conference to your heart's content, using the hashtag #AWC. And definitely register soon. Workshop slots are filling quickly.
So, let's kick off the Auburn Writers Conference Promo-a-Palooza with this amazing, amazing, I-dare-you-not-to-cry-conference-trailer, created by the incredibly talented duo of Whitney and Dave at Room Eleven Media.
Thanks, Room Eleven. Everyone else, I'll see you on the Plains this October.
